About You: Dear Hiring Manager,
I am writing to express my interest in a Yacht Captain, Mate, Crew, or Deckhand position aboard
a private or charter motor yacht. I am open to freelance assignments, deliveries, relief work, or a
long-term placement. With more than 30 years of hands-on maritime experience, I bring a strong
foundation in vessel operations, guest service, offshore navigation, sportfishing, and
comprehensive vessel maintenance.
I hold a U.S.C.G. 100-Ton Master License and have extensive experience operating vessels
ranging from 50’ to 85’, including private yachts, sportfishing vessels, and commercial boats.
Throughout my career, I have been responsible for yacht handling, trip planning, crew
supervision, docking and line handling, preventative maintenance, and engine oversight. I take
pride in providing a safe, professional, and enjoyable experience for owners and guests, while
maintaining the vessel to the highest standards.
Most recently, I served as Captain of the 75’ private sportfisher M/V C Bandit at the San Diego
Yacht Club, where I managed daily operations, offshore navigation, provisioning, deck
operations, and guest experiences while ensuring full safety compliance. Prior to that, I captained
the 82’ F/V Pilikia for over two decades, private/ commercial harpoon swordfishery ,overseeing
long-term vessel operations, crew management, safety drills, and a major rebuild of 12V2000
DDC/MTU engines. Earlier in my career, I operated the 60’ Capt. Hook II, managing guest trips
and long-range navigation.
In addition to my captain roles, I gained valuable experience as a deckhand and commercial
operator aboard a variety of vessels, which has given me a well-rounded understanding of
teamwork, watchstanding, and the importance of attention to detail on board. I am known for my
professionalism, reliability, calm decision-making, and strong safety leadership, supported by my
Onboard Drill Instructor certification.
